ramener le D12 / bringing back the D12

Après avoir contacté le propriétaire en Hollande et être tombé d'accord pour les détails, j'ai fait ajouter une boule à ma voiture et imprimer une plaque d'immatriculation supplémentaire pour la remorque.

Arrivé à Houten, près d'Utrecht, j'ai eu droit à une leçon de gréeage (gréement ? gréementation ?) et d'arrimage sur la remorque.

Qu'il était beau ! Je l'ai rapporté au Pecq, une première pour moi de conduire avec un bateau derrière ma voiture.

After contacting the owner in the Nederland and fixing the details, I had someone add a hook on my car and print an extra plate for the trailer.
I drove up to Houten, near Utrecht and there, the owner gave me a rigging lesson, and then a trailer lashing lesson. What a pretty boat! I drove it back to Le Pecq where I live, near Paris.

Trouver un Dinghy 12' / Finding a Dinghy 12'

J'ai rapidement découvert le site de Steve Crook, http://www.12footdinghy.org/ et c'est dans sa section "For Sale/Wanted" que j'ai trouvé mon bonheur, début 2010.

Un bateau hollandais, voile numéro 469, construit en 1943, baptisé "De Bonte Koe". Voici les photos qui étaient sur l'annonce.

Mes débuts / My beginnings

Après 16 ans passés en Chine loin de tout club de voile, j'ai été rapatrié en France en 2009. Je m'étais dit que si je rentrais au pays, je m'achèterais un petit voilier. Mais pas n'importe quel dériveur. Il faudrait qu'il soit traditionnel, en bois, et surtout avec un autre gréement que l'habituel bermudien avec Grand Voile + Foc.

C'est sur internet que j'ai vu mon premier Dinghy 12' et j'ai trouvé ses lignes magnifiques...

After living 16 years in China, far from any sail club, I was sent back to France. I had decided that should I go back, I would buy myself a tiny sail boat. But not any sail boat, it had to be a classic, even antique, made of wood, and with a rigging different from the usual Bermuda Main + jib.

It's on the web that I saw my first Dinghy 12' and I thought its lines were wonderful...
