Je me suis récemment inscrit à Pinterest parce que quand je cherchais des photos sur Google, très souvent elles se trouvaient sur Pinterest, je cliquais dessus et on me disait que faute d’être inscrit, je ne pourrais pas les voir. Un peu de la "vente forcée" je trouve. Donc je m'inscris, je peux maintenant voir les photos, mais elles sont souvent dénuées de tout contexte, sont repiquées par les uns sur les autres, les mots clefs sont trop limitatifs, Pinterest génère chez moi énormément de frustration.
I recently suscribed to Pinterest because too often, when I was looking up pictures on Google, they were located there. I would click to see them and I was told I could not access them as I was not registered. A bit of blackmail in my opinion. So I registered, I can now see these pictures but they are usually lacking context, are picked up from successive other Pinterest accounts, the labels for finding images are too narrow, Pinterest is hugely frustrating for me.

Quels jolis bateaux! Très semblables de coque à nos dinghies 12', ils paraissent un peu plus grands. Le gréement est différent mais même chez nos dinghies, il y a eu le schisme irlandais qui a créé la sous-classe des Dubliners 12' (des Dinghies 12' internationaux au tiers regréés en marconi).
Such pretty boats! Their hulls are very similar to our 12' dinghies' but they seem a bit bigger. Their rigging differs also from our own but even in our class, there have been the "Irish Schism" which created the Dubliner 12' sub-class (international 12' rigged marconi style instead of the usual standing lug).

De quelle classe s'agit il ? Pinterest ne m'apprends rien. Je recherche la photo sur Google, elle apparait aussi sur Instagram, sur Tumblr, toujours pas d'info si ce n'est "Cornwall!" sur un de ces sites.
Which class is it ? Pinterest tells me nothing. I look for the picture on Google, it appears also on Instagram, on Tumblr, still no information except a cryptic "Cornwall!" on one of these posts.

Le logo sur la voile semble être un F et un R entrelacés, recherche sur Google encore vaine au sujet de l'insigne FR (peut être trop proche de "FRance" ?).
The class insignia on the mainsail seem to be the intertwined letters F and R. Yet another Google search that gives nothing (maybe too close to FRance ?).

Que faire, sauver cette photo sur mon disque dur puis l'oublier ? Il reste encore un indice à explorer avant d'abandonner, le nom de l’hôtel dans la ville derrière les voiliers: "Fowley Hotel".
What can I do ? Save that picture on my hard-disk then forget about it ? There is one last clue to follow, the name of the hotel in the town behind the sailboats: "Fowley Hotel"

Il existe bien un hôtel de ce nom en Cornouailles, sa photo matche bien la notre et voici son site:

Nouvelle recherche sur Google avec les mots clefs: "Fowey sailboat" et bingo, je trouve "Fowey River Class" qui explique le logo FR sur la grand-voile...

En bref, ils sont la déclinaison locale depuis 1950 d'un dériveur conçu un peu plus tôt par Reg Freeman, ont connu une progression régulière jusqu'en 1965 (le pic avec 36 unités), ont presque disparu ensuite mais reviennent en force depuis les années 90.
In short, they are the 1950 local version of a dinghy designed a bit earlier by Reg Freeman, saw a steady growth until 1965 (their peak with 36 units), then almost vanished but are enjoying a strong comeback since the Nineties.

Je n'ai pas trouvé leur mensurations exactes, je sais juste qu'ils font 15 pieds, ont une coque tout bois à clins et qu'ils ont un gréement houari.
I could not find their exact measurements, I only know that they are 15' long, they have an all-wood clinker hull and they have a gunter rig
